Social networking websites like Facebook and Myspace have become part of my life starting from two years ago. Although I do not log on to the Facebook web page very often, it still acts as a medium through which I can keep myself in touch with my friends. As my friends updating their status and uploading photoes, I feel great to be able to catch glimpses of their present lives. Not aware of the potential threats, I was pretty thankful to this function and also quite confident with the security of privacy. Then I read The Publication of Your Personal Profile by Megan Ramires. In the essay the writer clams that social networking websites are not as secure as they seem to be. With technology it is not too hard to gain access to restricted profile. Not to mention all the personal informations that are opened up.
I find this essay strongly persuasive. Not only because the writer used both one experimental example and a real life instance to support her point, but more importantly the writer continuously repeated her thesis throughout the entire essay.
The writer kept emphasizing here and there in the essay that after information or pictures are posted online, they are open to be seen by anybody through the internet. And this fact makes it possible for one's online image to have negative effect on his or her real life. Such as, pictures contain illegal content might result a failure of job hunt. In one word, convincing examples and delicate essay structure made this paper exclusively persuasive.
